Black Jack Basics – Part One

The basic concept of the game is to be given cards adding up to twenty one. Each player is handed 2 cards. When a black jack player is given a nine or less and an Ace they’ve been given a soft hand. When the blackjack player is dealt no Ace it is known as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been handed to all players at the table, which includes the dealer, every blackjack player is provided the chance to make one of six decisions:

Taking another card (Hit): When a player says "hit" the dealer will give him another card, if the adding of that card causes the value of the hand to exceed twenty-one the gambler will have busted and that is the end of the game, if the card pushes the total to twenty one the black jack player will be the winner and if the total has not yet achieved twenty one they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you’ve been given: If a blackjack player is satisfied with the cards they will hold. Once this has happened the dealer will disclose their cards and the gambler who has accumulated twenty-one or the closet to twenty-one will win.

Doubling Down: A gambler might request to double down which increases the bet by one hundred percent they have laid. Once you have taken this procedure you can only receive 1 additional card. The details of doubling down are usually specified by the table or betting house rules so prior to playing be sure you’re at ease with the house game rules. If you are gambling at an on-line casino this is normally very simple.

Stay tuned for part 2.
